We celebrated Proclamation Day in Scoil Mhuire, Coole on 15th March 2016. Proceedings began at 12:30 with the raising of the flag. We sang the national anthem and then the pupils read the 1916 proclamation and our own 2016 proclamation. This was composed from a combination of the pupils’ personal proclamations for a modern day Ireland. We then proceeded to bury a time capsule on the school grounds. It is envisaged that this
time capsule will be unearthed in 2066!! We then had a ceili in the school hall. During the ceili the pupils sang, performed a drama based on the Easter rising and played the tin whistles. Many of the pupils dressed up in 1916 type clothes which added great colour and interest to the occasion. It was a very memorable and enjoyable occasion and many thanks to all who attended.
